Toronto Hispano could access an exclusive interview with Carlos Marin (Spain), a member of IL DIVO to tell us more about this last tour that brings them back to America after a long absence.
What are your expectations for the upcoming concert in Toronto?
For the best, this Saturday 19 will be in Toronto offering a magic show for our fans. I promise you will not regret it and spend a beautiful night with all the songs from Il Divo he likes people, and this time includes 37 musicians on stage. I assure you it will be great. We started the tour in January this year and since then have not stopped.
How long since you were last in Canada with IL DIVO?
They are almost 3 years, I really do not remember exactly, but that is approximate. I miss the ctities. In particular, I am a lover of the night and have always been well received by the public in this city.
How did you start in singing?
Since very young in reality. My first public performance was in front of the 6 years since I have not stopped and that has helped me to become part of Il Divo. I can consider it a dream come true, even then I figured I could stand on stage before thousands of people and enjoy my voice. I remember from childhood I was shocked to see Mario Lanza performing “The Great Caruso”, maybe that was a plan of what fate had in store for me.
How did you become part of Il Divo?
First of all I have to say that being part of Il Divo, gives me great pride. I participated in the casting seeking members for the group. The rigorous selection was sought by 17 countries and involved more than 30,000 people, so you can imagine the excitement I felt when I heard that was selected.
How does it feel to be part of Il Divo?
Above all it is a lot of responsibility but we are very focused four types, we are all with the feet on the ground. Each has its own particularity, his own musical taste, his own personality as well as mentioning that each has a different nationality. But is a mixture of the above, that makes us feel good.
With whom did you have opportunity to share the stage? Anyone in particular you remember?
This race is magnified. Things are beautiful at every step, that is why I am very grateful to the opportunity they gave me. With the group we have had the opportunity to sing alongside Tony Braxton, Celine Dion, and meet great people like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro, among others. While singing with Tom Jones was an experience that marked life in particular, having grown up listening and singing with him was indescribable. But if I have to remember anecdotes, for nothing like Julio Iglesias, I found a program in Spanish and I was amazed, because since childhood I always wanted to be like him. What was surprising was when I was approached and I began to talk normally and I said a wise phrase: “The craft of the artist is not really how well you can sing but how many women have the opportunity to know” (laughs) .
What brings on this occasion IL DIVO and what message you want to let the Hispanic community that follows the group?
I promise that this is sensational show, we will review our entire discography. We will also have the opportunity to delight the audience with our own voices. And say to the Hispanic community we also have a part of the show will include the Latin flavor that is essential in each of our presentations. Of course, we say thank you for your support and love.
A concert not to be missed is the bringer IL DIVO this time to Toronto, this Saturday 19 at the Air Canada Centre, which promises to become one of the best shows of the year.
